Manchester United’s transfer window has been a rather stagnant one since the signing of Victor Lindelof from SL Benfica. However, there seems to be a new name linked with an Old Trafford move every single day. The latest to be thrown into the hat is Lucas Biglia, of Lazio.
That’s according to Italian media outlet, Cittacelste, who say that the Red Devils have ‘shown an interest’ in the 31-year-old who plies his trade in the Serie A.
However, if Jose Mourinho were to make a move, they wouldn’t be alone with fierce rivals Liverpool also keen.
Obviously, Biglia’s best days are behind him but due to his age, he’d bring plenty of experience to a key area of the field. At times last season, United looked rather lost in the middle of the park, and they needed that calming presence who could have guided his teammates through – Biglia would certainly offer that.
Alright, he’d only offer us a couple of years of services in the most likely event but Biglia could become a stopgap as Mourinho continues to constantly mould the team into one that suits his style of play.
A lack of sheer numbers meant that the boss wasn’t able to rotate anywhere near enough as much as he would have liked at times. Biglia would fit into the starting line-up seamlessly, and if we play with a three-man midfield, he’d get plenty of minutes on the field. Heck, he has to be better than Marouane Fellaini…
