Manchester United’s Antonio Valencia is expected to miss the Red Devils’ away trip to Leicester City on Saturday with a hamstring injury, according to The Metro.
The 32-year-old right-back limped off the field during United’s 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, and subsequently, he missed their Carabao Cup quarter-final loss on Wednesday.
However, he’ll be unavailable for a potentially tricky game against Leicester on Christmas Eve Eve. The Ecuador international is now targeting a return to the line-up against Burnley at home on Boxing Day.
Before then, though, Jose Mourinho has a real selection dilemma on his hands. The Foxes will provide a tough task on Saturday, and who does the manager call upon? Matteo Darmian is pretty much useless, so I’d like to see Ashley Young play on the right side with Luke Shaw starting as the left-back.
Hopefully, we’ll have Valencia back soon. In my opinion, he’s the best right-back in the country at the moment which says a lot considering he started his Old Trafford career as a right-winger. He deserves huge credit for that, and no doubt he’s working hard behind the scenes to try and get back involved.
