Manchester United’s Matteo Darmian has barely played any football since the turn of the year, largely due to some excellent form from Luke Shaw.
Now, rumours about his Old Trafford future have intensified, with Juventus’ General Manager admitting that Darmian ‘interests’ the Serie A giants.
“He is a player of Manchester United and is not our property, but he is a good player who interests us,” Giuseppe Marotta is quoted as saying by Calciomercato, translated by the Manchester Evening News.
Directly after moving to United from Torino, Darmian looked as though he could have solved a huge defensive hole for the Red Devils, but as time progressed his form has seemingly gotten worse.
Who knows, perhaps a move back to Italy makes sense for all involved. Darmian clearly feels comfortable there, Juventus would be getting a player who’s proven his worth in the Serie A and United would receive a decent transfer fee for a player who’s on the fringes of things.
Sometimes, things just don’t work out and that definitely seems to be the case here for whatever reason. United should move on from Darmian and hand his minutes to a youngster. Timothy Fosu-Mensah would certainly be worth the gamble.
