Manchester United have been hit with a major injury setback, with Eric Bailly set to miss six-eight weeks due to a groin injury. That’s according to The Sun.
The Ivory Coast star was comfortably United’s best defender last term, and to be without him over the hectic winter schedule is a huge blow. Bailly, 23, hasn’t played since the start of November, which is a real concern.
This season hasn’t been great for Bailly thus far. Heck, he’s turning into the new Phil Jones! Playing a few games, then spending the next month out injured. Last term he went through the whole season relatively unscathed, now, I’m just hoping that this isn’t a sign of things to come because he’s a cracking defender.
Thankfully, United are pretty well stocked at centre-half. Phil Jones is back, whereas Chris Smalling is playing well right now. Victor Lindelof is improving, while Marcos Rojo is also looking good following a long-term injury.
We’ll just have to see how Bailly is upon his return, and ease him back into things. We’ll desperately need him in the second-half of the season, so let’s get him back to his brilliant best rather than rushing him into playing too soon.
