Manchester United’s worries over player contracts continue. Ander Herrera looks to be headed to Paris Saint-Germain, while Juan Mata is yet to commit to a new deal despite his existing terms expiring this summer.
Keeping ahold of your top players is becoming tougher for the Red Devils, and the latest name to be talked about in terms of contractual talk struggles is Marcus Rashford. I think it’s telling that even a United fan isn’t ready to commit to a new deal as soon as possible…
It comes from the Daily Mail, they say that Rashford is now aware that the rebuilding job at United is a huge one and he is stalling in regards to putting pen to paper.
With twelve months left on his current deal, Rashford is just over six months away from being able to talk to overseas clubs about leaving the Theatre of Dreams on a free contract. That has to be a massive worry for the Red Devils.
The Mail also add that Rashford is after wages in excess of £200,000-a-week to stay at the club in the long-term. In this day and age that doesn’t seem too pricey, and honestly, United should just get this one done as soon as possible as the 21-year-old is the future of this club.
The point still stands, though, United are having issues with keeping their top stars at Old Trafford, but they have no problem when it comes down to giving new deals to the likes of Ashley Young and Phil Jones. Make of that what you will.
