Man United still interested in classy Belgian winger: report

Manchester United need a big summer transfer window. That much is obvious to any Red Devils fan.

Amongst the needs is a top-class winger who can come in and make that right-hand side spot their own. One name that won’t go away is Yannick Carrasco.

In yesterday’s copy of Corriere dello Sport, translated via Sport Witness, the Belgian’s name takes centre-stage again.

Apparently, United are still interested in the 25-year-old as they are ‘lurking in the distance’ as Carrasco potentially considers a move back to European football; although Inter Mremainsemain in the forefront as they look to ‘get closer’ to the winger.

There is no doubt that Carrasco would bring quality aplenty to Old Trafford, while paying his wages and transfer fee would be no issue whatsoever.

My worry is that he willingly went to China at an early stage in his career – when he knows the quality of football over there is drastically weaker. This let’s me know that money was probably his top priority and that’s a concern as we know how willing United have been in that regard recently.

My overriding feeling is that United would probably be wise to avoid the ‘mercenary’ type player for the foreseeable future as they look to rediscover their identity.
