A potential Manchester United move for Erling Braut Haaland is one that’s picking up pace pretty swiftly in the media. So-much-so that we’re very close to creating our ususal header image rather than using a generic Old Trafford one!

Jokes aside, the latest instalment in the brewing saga comes from Spain, namely AS’ Monday print edition, translated via Sport Witness.

They state that United are the ‘strongest club’ in pursuit of the prolific 19-year-old striker, while estimating a fee of around £85million (€100m).

Haaland, born in Leeds(!) currently plies his trade for RB Salzburg. This season the young man has scored 27 goals in 23 matches across all competitions – including seven in four Champions League games.

Where United could potentially find an edge over the likes of Real Madrid is the fact that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has previously worked with Haaland during his time at Molde. Plus, it also helps that they’re both Norweigan.

At this stage, it does feel to me like the common consensus amongst the media is that United are leading the charge, though as we all know, a lot can change in football, and quickly…

Haaland would be a stunning addition to this young United squad and I’d love to see this move happen. January is probably the Red Devils’ best chance as when next summer rolls around, you’d imagine interest in the Norweigan will only increase.

Will Salzburg be willing to part with their star man in the middle of a season, though? I’d highly doubt it – unless United throw a huge sum of money their way.
