Manchester United’s centre-back problems have been evident over the last few years. It’s an area in which the Red Devils have options aplenty; although none are at that world-class level.
Obviously, the club should be looking to invest in that area in some way, shape or form. The latest centre-back to be linked with an Old Trafford move is Norwich City’s Ben Godfrey.
That’s according to The Sun, who in a exclusive, are claiming that the 21-year-old’s recent form has led to United stepping up their interest in the defender.
Apparently, the Reds have been impressed with the man who’s rated at around £10million since the turn of the year as he looks to approach The Canaries’ promotion push.
Is Godfrey the answer? I’m not so sure. He’s a player that I’ve not seen an awful lot of – but it’s obvious he’s a talented young man who could potentially have a bright future.
Do United really need another young up-and-comer, though? I’d much prefer to see the club go after a world-class, Premier League proven centre-back at this point in time. Now I know that’s easier said than done, and likely the more expensive route, but that’s what this club needs right now.
