Man United targeting Marcos Llorente loan until end of season: report

Manchester United’s midfield problems are clear for all to see. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is competing with one hand tied behind his back due to long-term injuries suffered by both Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay.

The Baby Faced Assassin has just Nemanja Matic, Fred and Andreas Pereira to work with in terms of senior, fit, middle-of-the-park players right now. Hardly glamorous options, huh…?

Anyway today, in an exclusive, the Manchester Evening News has thrown a new name into the mix; Marcos Llorente.

Apparently, United have identified the 24-year-old midfielder as the ‘ideal option’ for a loan move until the end of the season.

United are focused on clubs who have players who are lacking in game time. Llorente fits that bill as he’s behind the likes of Saul, Koke, Hector Herrera and Thomas Teye.

Llorente has started just three of their 19 La Liga matches this term, totting up just 16 minutes of league and Champions League action over the last eight weeks…

Having only arrived at Atleti in the summer (from Real Madrid, no less), there’s no doubt that Llorente will be looking to increase his playing time. It feels like a short-term move away from the Wanda Metropolitano makes sense for all involved – and it’d be an astute piece of business if the Red Devils could somehow pull this one off…
