Manchester United jet off for their pre-season tour in just five days from now, as Jose Mourinho looks set to put his squad through their paces ahead of the new campaign. However, ahead of that, we’ve been given another update in our pursuit of Ivan Perisic, which has been well documented.
According to La Repubblica via The Metro, the 28-year-old is ready to try and push a move through to United, as he wants to play in the Premier League and work with Jose Mourinho.
The Croatia international has been identified as one of Mourinho’s primary transfer targets, but as of yet, it seems like no deal has been agreed between his current club Inter and the Red Devils.
Inter themselves are holding out for around €50m, whereas United are yet to table an offer in excess of €30m which is some way off the demands of the Serie A club.
If Perisic tried to force Milan’s hands somewhat, then perhaps their valuation could be lowered somewhat, meaning United wouldn’t have to dramatically up their offer to land the Croat.
At the club, nobody really nailed down that left-wing spot and made it their own. Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Henrikh Mkhitaryan all had their chance but didn’t really grasp that opportunity with both hands. That’s where Perisic could step in and earn his place in the line-up, providing United do actually sign him, of course.
