Manchester United are set to try and offload Daley Blind in the summer, according to The Mirror, per the Daily Mail.
The versatile Dutchman saw his Old Trafford contract extended by a further year recently, but it is thought that was purely done so they don’t lose Blind on a free transfer, allowing Manchester United to recoup the £14million transfer fee that they paid to sign him.
Under Louis van Gaal, Blind was getting ample playing time in various positions, but since Jose Mourinho has taken charge, the Holland international has seen his on-field minutes reduced massively.
He’s just wasting away on the bench in a rather needless manner, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to become a part of Mourinho’s plans anytime soon.
The smart thing for all involved would be to sell him off immediately, and it’d make sense to shift him over to a club outside of the Premier League; perhaps a move to Spain or Germany would be an excellent option for Blind.
We’ll just have to see how this one plays out, but letting him go is definitely the correct play at this point in time.
