One area Manchester United have gotten’ right over the last few years is the goalkeeper position.
David de Gea is the best in the business, while the club have some top youngsters coming through – including Dean Henderson. Well, according to Samuel Luckhurst, the pair have returned to United for pre-season training today, while providing us with an update on the latter’s short-term future.
According to Luckhurst, United are trying to tie the 22-year-old starlet down to a new contract, with the Red Devils also telling Henderson to apply for a Chinese visa, in the event that he goes on tour with the Old Trafford club.
Unsurprisingly, Sheffield United are trying to get Henderson back on loan for another year, after his sheer brilliance for The Blades in between the sticks last term.
First and foremost, it’s good to learn that De Gea is back in training with United, and hopefully, the club can now start working on convincing him to sign a new deal.
Where Henderson is concerned, I’d personally love to see him head out on tour just so Solskjaer can get a look at what he can do – while giving him his first-team chance in the process.
In an ideal situation, De Gea will put pen to paper and Henderson will impress on tour before heading out on loan to Sheffield United. Then, in twelve months time, the budding shot-stopper will come back to United and push for the starting role at the Theatre of Dreams…
