Last summer, Manchester United spent big money to bring back Paul Pogba to the club, just a few years after letting him leave Old Trafford in a much cheaper deal. Now, the Red Devils could be about to do something similar with defender Michael Keane.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who say that Jose Mourinho is ready to fork out £25million to land the Englishman; ten times more than Manchester United let him leave for just a couple of years ago.
It’s definitely fair to say that since he left Old Trafford, Keane has really improved dramatically as a player, and you have to give him massive credit for that. He was brilliant for England in their last couple of fixtures, and he didn’t look out of place at that level at all.
With long-term injuries to Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, I think that Mourinho could well be tempted to bring in someone who offers that reliability instead; and in my opinion, Keane would be an ideal fit.
He knows the club and at just twenty-four, he’ll be improving as a footballer all of the time. Honestly, I believe he’s much more talented than both Smalling and Jones so the move would make sense, especially if the gaffer decides to move one (or both) of those guys on this summer.
