Manchester United have won the race to sign Chelsea winger, Willian. The deal can now go through following Brazil’s World Cup exit.
That’s according to The Sun, per The Metro. They add that the transfer can now be finalised after waiting for his nation to return home from Russia 2018. Jose Mourinho is confident that United can now quickly complete the deal.
Willian is experienced, a hard-worker, great on the ball and has the ability to produce something out of nothing. With United struggling on the right-hand side, there is no doubt that he’d be an excellent option to have in and around the squad.
With that said, I have my doubts that Chelsea would sell us a key member of their squad for the second successive season, following Nemanja Matic’s arrival last summer.
After falling out with Antonio Conte, I’d be extremely surprised if Willian does stay at Stamford Bridge beyond this summer, and if he wants to stay in the Premier League, then linking up with his former boss seems like a no-brainer. The pair know each other inside out, meaning the 29-year-old would seamlessly be able to slot right in without any questions asked. Anthony Martial out, Willian in? I’m all for it.
