Manchester United Football Club will not be signing Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale this summer, according to the Daily Record. The usually reliable Duncan Castles writes that Jose Mourinho is sceptical about paying a ridiculous transfer fee to sign the Welsh winger.
On top of that, the boss isn’t sure whether the former Tottenham Hotspur man would be willing to make the move to the Theatre of Dreams. Heck, he plays for a side that has won back-to-back Champions League titles, and right now, Bale has been a major part of their success.
Personally, as soon as the links to the 28-year-old appeared, it always looked like it’d be tough to sign him. Whether it’s Mourinho’s decision is another matter entirely. Honestly, even if the self-proclaimed Special One wanted him, I just cannot see Bale leaving.
He’s a genuinely world-class footballer, and he’s one of a handful of players who can play for any side in the world and make them better. I’d love for him to play his football for Manchester United, and it’d be wonderful to see him back in the Premier League. But, we have to be real, he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
