Man United worried about superstar’s fitness, doubt to start against Leicester City: report

Manchester United, namely Jose Mourinho’s back-room staff, are worried about Anthony Martial’s fitness going into the new season.

That’s according to The Times, per The Metro, with their report claiming that Martial was expected to start up front, alongside Alexis Sanchez against Leicester City.

Now, after missing the last eight days of pre-season due to the birth of his second child, the situation has changed as Martial has barely had any pre-season whatsoever.

From a fitness standpoint, this makes perfect sense. Why start a player who’s not fully ready to go? All that will lead to is injuries and poor performances.

The good news is the fact that United clearly don’t have any intentions of letting him go. In fact, it’s quite the opposite as they obviously want him to play regularly. Sometimes, though, there are more important things to life than football. This is just one of those situations that is out of everybody’s control. The main thing is that both baby and mother are doing well, United should be an afterthought.

With time dwindling down on the transfer window, it does look as though United will be playing hard-ball with Martial. He’s not going anywhere this summer, now Mourinho must do what he can to get him to stay.
