Manchester United youngster, James Garner, has been told that he’s heading on pre-season tour for the first time.
That’s according to The Metro, who say that the 17-year-old’s father released the news. After only making his U18s debut just fourteen months ago, knowing that he’ll be working week-in-week-out with world-class, first-team players can only benefit his fledgeling career.
Garner, predominantly a midfielder, was born in Birkenhead in 2001, and recently put pen to paper on his first professional deal at Old Trafford.
With several United stars set to miss the tour due to World Cup participation, this is the perfect opportunity for the young man to show Jose Mourinho what he can do first-hand.
Fortunately for him, midfield is an area that United were already thin on the ground in, so he should get his opportunity to play in at least one or two of the tour games.
This is just huge, and it’s superb to see United still carrying on with their mantra of developing young starlets and turning them into something special. At 17, who knows where Garner will be in a few years, but it’s nice to see him given the chance.
