All summer long, Manchester United’s proposed move for Harry Maguire has dragged on.
Well, we could finally have some movement on the potential transfer, with the usually reliable Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that United’s move for the 26-year-old is in the ‘final stages’.
Di Marzio adds that Maguire has ‘made it clear’ he wants to move to the Red Devils, while the centre-half was absent from training today. Furthermore, Leicester City are set to respect the wishes of the player, which is good news for United.
With ten days to go until the transfer deadline, it does seem as though things are heading in the right direction for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in regards to finally getting a centre-back to partner Victor Lindelof.
Maguire is a dramatic upgrade on anything United have at the moment, and although he will not come cheap, the one they call ‘slabhead’ will prove his worth over the course of a long (and hopefully trophy-laden) Reds career.
Hopefully, Edward Woodward can push this deal done as quickly as possible. United have just one pre-season game left after the trip to Kristiansund tomorrow, and if the club can get him in before the AC Milan game this weekend, it’d be great for Maguire to get some minutes under his belt before the serious stuff starts.
