Manchester United are thought to have high interest in Borussia Dortmund’s central midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, and it looks as though United are still favourites to secure his signature according to reports in Germany.
Der Westen say that Gundogan himself doesn’t want to wait for an offer from Barcelona and he wants his future sorted, whereas Bayern Munich are not interested in the player exchange deal that Dortmund require for the 24-year old to join Pep Guardiola’s side.
The German midfielder has gained a new lease of life this season, after suffering an horrific injury the year before. Hopefully the worst is now behind him, and if he could stay fit then he’d be a fantastic acquisition.
There aren’t many better holding midfielders than Gundogan, but if I had to choose between him and Schneiderlin then I’d probably go for the latter due to the Premier League experience the Frenchman has. However I don’t see any reason as to why we cannot go for both.
