Man Utd boosted by an unlikely source ahead of Southampton game

Louis van Gaal has received a huge boost, ahead of United’s game against Southampton on Monday night. Southampton started the season off on a flyer, but over the past few weeks they’ve been struggling for form, and more importantly struggling for player fitness, with several key players picking up injuries in recent weeks.

This gives United a huge chance to beat Southampton in just under a weeks time, and Louis van Gaal will be keen to get one over on his old rival, Ronald Koeman.

Dusan Tadic picked up a knock in their game last night, and their injury problems doubled when Jack Cork had to be substituted with a foot injury too. It didn’t end there though for the Saints, who then lost Toby Alderweireld with a hamstring strain in the dying embers of the game.

When you add those three injuries, to the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin, James Ward-Prowse and Jay Rodriguez’s long-term problems, theres probably not been a better time to play Southampton all year. Manchester United simply have to take advantage of that come Monday…
