Manchester United’s major overhaul of the current squad under Jose Mourinho could be set to continue – with the new boss trying to mould the squad how he sees fit. Another key player could be about to find himself axed.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who reckon that Bastian Schweinsteiger’s days at Old Trafford are numbered.
It was just twelve months ago that the German made his debut for United whilst on tour, but he’s almost 32, and Jose Mourinho has injury concerns about the World Cup winner.
Whilst it would be a shame to see him go, you understand the logic behind a potential exit for Schweinsteiger. At times he has looked like a real key figure in the middle of the park, but he did spent months on the treatment table towards the end of the campaign.
You feel that he probably deserves one more season to prove his worth, but if Mourinho’s mind is already made up, it won’t be easy to change.
