Man Utd dealt massive blow as Hummels opts for Dortmund stay

Manchester United are set for a huge summer, in terms of incoming and outgoing transfers. Louis van Gaal clearly knows who he wants, and won’t hang around if certain deals seem like they’re dragging on and may not be pushed through in time.

One deal that has seemingly been in the media for a lifetime is the transfer of Mats Hummels to Manchester United. The Germany international has been at the heart of a solid defence in Dortmund for quite a while now, and many thought it was time for a change.

However it looks as though he has had a change of heart, because according to Kicker, Hummels has told the Dortmund CEO Michael Zorc that he is prepared to stay at Dortmund beyond this summer.

If true, this is a huge blow. We should’ve been looking at Hummels as a primary transfer target, but even if we were we cannot force him to move. The 26-year old has always been a loyal character, but it looks as though that loyalty has gone against us this time.
