Manchester United host Southampton at Old Trafford on Sunday, with a potentially season-defining three points on the line against a rival competitor for a spot in the top four. Louis van Gaal got one over on his old pal Ronald Koeman last time, and he’ll be hoping for the same result again.
Ahead of that game, the gaffer confirmed that Manchester United have just one injury remaining in the current first-team squad, with Ashley Young ruled out for 4-6 weeks with a hamstring problem.
However Louis van Gaal also added that not all of his players are 100% fit. One of those players is Rafael da Silva, whom the manager confirmed will not be risked due to a fractured cheekbone.
Rafael suffered the injury in the 2-0 victory away at Yeovil, but thankfully it hasn’t kept him out of training for too long.
Hopfeully Antonio Valencia is fit and ready to go, because failing that we could see the likes of Chris Smalling or Phil Jones put in that right-back slot.
