Manchester United’s squad has been struggling in terms of their performances somewhat recently, and that could be down to the absence of a certain midfielder who seems to be the lifeblood of the team at the moment. That man is set to return, but perhaps this weekend will come too soon for him.
Michael Carrick put in some excellent performances before this latest injury setback, and when he’s in the side it seems to calm everyone down. Today, Van Gaal confirmed that he’s back in training and will be available for selection tomorrow, but the chances are he’ll be made to play a couple of U21s games to get back up to speed.
The only absentee from the first-team squad is Robin van Persie, but Carrick’s return to the side coupled with that injury means Wayne Rooney will almost certainly play as a striker for the foreseeable future, which is only a good thing in my opinion.
