Earlier today, we covered a story from the Telegraph in which it was claimed that Bruno Fernandes had agreed personal terms with Manchester United.

Well now from the Daily Mirror, we know more. Apparently, United have offered Fernandes a five-year deal (with the option for a sixth) worth 150k-a-week.

Furthermore, the 25-year-old is set to make his final Sporting appearance in Friday night’s derby against SL Benfica – before flying to Manchester to complete his transfer to United.

The Mirror goes on to add that if a deal is agreed within the next 48 hours, Fernandes could make his United debut against Burnley next Wednesday.

Now, it’s down to the two clubs agreeing on a fee. Apparently, United have offered £50million, with various bonuses and add-ons that could take the transfer up to £65million.

It’s blatantly obvious to anyone that United need midfield help. Signing Fernandes would certainly be a statement of intent, while significantly boosting the Reds’ chances at securing a top-four finish this term.

Fernandes’ numbers speak for themselves. He’s scored bags of goals and tacked on loads of assists for his teammates. The question is, will his game translate to Premier League football. He may need time to settle in, but right now, for United, it’s a risk they simply have to take.
