Manchester United signed Bruno Fernandes as the January transfer window wound down to a close, though for the Red Devils, his signing has to be just the start of a major midfield overhaul.
In my opinion, the writing is on the wall in regards to Paul Pogba, meaning when the summer rolls around, more additions may have to be made. One name that has often been linked with a potential Old Trafford move over the last six months is youngster Jude Bellingham.
Yesterday evening, The Sun gave us another update on Bellingham, whom they call the best English talent since Wayne Rooney; high praise indeed.
Apparently, United are prepared to pay a ‘mind-boggling’ £35m up front, plus a further £15m in add-ons to sign the mega-talented midfield man. However, they won’t have it all their own way with Chelsea also keen.
Currently, Bellingham earns just £145 a week, though he isn’t eligible to sign his first professional contract until June when he turns 17.
It’s quite remarkable that someone who is only 16 is already playing professional football at a super-competitive level. Understandably, all of England’s top clubs have shown an interest in Bellingham, though right now it’s United and Chelsea leading the way.
Birmingham City themselves also know what a gem they’ve got on their hands, rejecting a £30m bid for Bellingham from us already… I’d be surprised if he’s still in the Second City at the end of the summer transfer window…
