Manchester United are ‘willing to listen to offers’ for the young English goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, according to the Daily Mail. Johnstone was once tipped as a potential successor to Edwin Van der Sar, but since then a mighty fall from grace has seen him take part in a few lower league loan moves.
The arrival of Victor Valdes certainly hasn’t helped the 2011 FA Youth Cup winners’ case for a chance at some first-team minutes at the club, and thats meant he has had to settle for playing football for League One side Preston North End.
It’d be a shame to see yet another talent leave Old Trafford this window, and its fair to say that Louis van Gaal has abandoned youth at the club somewhat, but its understandable due to the fact that we’re currently not playing European football and there simply hasn’t been enough minutes to allow the Iron Tulip to fully utilise the players available at his disposal.
