Manchester United are close to sorting out their second bit of January transfer business already, following Sam Johnstone’s extended loan spell at Doncaster Rovers. Next up is Michael Keane, who is close to completing a permanent move away from Old Trafford.
The young defender has been on loan at Burnley this season, and despite a fairly quiet start to life at Turf Moor, the 21-year old has found himself getting a string of starts in the side.
According to ESPN, the England U21 international is set to make that move a permanent one within the coming days, allowing him to focus solely on Premier League football for the next six months.
Sadly it never really worked out for him at United, despite signals that it potentially could have. Under Ferguson, Michael Keane started some important games for the club, including a Capital One Cup game against Chelsea in his final year. After that, things slowed down for Keane and a couple of loan moves followed.
It’ll be sad to see another youngster depart from the club, but best of luck to him if this move does go through.
