Manchester United and Louis van Gaal could’ve just been handed a huge boost in pursuit of one of their defensive targets for this window, as Aymeric Laporte would be happy to join the club if his release clause is met, according to Sky Sports News’ Guillem Balague.
The Spanish football expert went on to say that United want a left-footed centre-back to join the club this winter, and if they pay Laporte’s €42m release clause then the 20-year old Frenchman would join the club.
Laporte has really upped his game this season, with many now touting him as one of the best up and coming centre-halves in world football. Being just twenty, he has huge potential and given the guidance of a manager like Louis van Gaal, he could certainly flourish from the get-go.
My only concern would be that he has a lack of Premier League experience, but he is a physical and tall player, so if he is able to cope with the roughness then he should have no problems fitting in.
