Man Utd to finally switch to 4-3-3 formation against Sunderland

Manchester United’s formation has been ever-changing throughout the course of this season so far, with Louis van Gaal struggling to find the right system which incorporates all their best players in their favoured positions. However, another formation change could be on the horizon today.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are set to adopt a 4-3-3 formation for the first time this season, with Wayne Rooney deployed as the lone striker. It is believed that Van Gaal doesn’t have the sufficient trust in Radamel Falcao to play him in a must-win game today, hence the formation switch.

This formation is probably the best one for United at the current time. It offers pace on the wings, solidity in midfield and the back four can focus solely on defending rather than bombing forward and leaving themselves exposed.
