Man Utd to make another bid for defender they tried to sign in January

Manchester United are widely expected to spend heavy once again in the upcoming transfer window, and one player who is thought to be high on Louis van Gaal’s wish list is the Valencia centre-back, Nicolas Otamendi.

Otamendi, 27, has had a fantastic season in the LIGA BBVA, and its reported that Manchester United made an unsuccessful €35million bid for the player in January, and according to Super Deporte, United are set to go back in for the player when the transfer window opens in June.

The Argentinian is certainly regarded as a late bloomer in terms of ability. He was relatively unknown until a year or so ago, when he burst onto the scene with commanding performances for his current side.

At 27, he has that experience and ability to really lead from the back and command United’s back line. This is something we desperately need if we’re going to stop leaking silly goals and bottling out of challenges.

I’d like to see Otamendi come in, along with one more proven centre-back. Somebody like Mats Hummels would be perfect, and we’d have a completely new back two who can teach the youngsters a trick or two.

Would Otamendi be a good signing? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
