Manchester United’s transfer window is well underway, with the club pushing ahead with a whole host of deals to try and lure new faces to Old Trafford, whilst letting some of the deadwood go. One player who is set to stay is Ashley Young, as according to The Sun, he is to pen a new three-year contract.
The new contract on the table for the winger is thought to be worth a huge £120,000-a-week, keeping him at the club until 2018 when he’ll be 32.
Ashley Young was without doubt the success story of Louis van Gaal’s first campaign in charge, as he rediscovered confidence and form under the influential Dutchman, and he was one of the mainstays in the starting line-up from the first minute of the opening game.
Louis van Gaal really trusts Young’s ability both offensively and defensively, and the winger certainly repaid that with some excellent performances at important times – most notably the last minute winner away at Newcastle.
