Man Utd yet to open contract talks with senior defender

Manchester United’s squad is set to undergo some ‘rough’ changes according to Louis van Gaal this summer, with the club expected to invest heavily, whilst letting a few senior figures go as they don’t fit into the Iron Tulip’s philosophy.

One player who looks to be on his way out is the Northern Irishman Jonny Evans. According to the Daily Mail, United are yet to open contract talks with the 27-year old and have no plans to do so.

This comes a couple of days after the news that Everton were preparing a £10million bid to land Evans, so I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see him go this summer.

Unfortunately Evans has never kicked on the way many expected. When he first broke through into the United side, the centre-back was expected to grow into a first team regular at United but that hasn’t happened. Now its probably in the best interests of everyone if he were to move on.

Should United let Evans go? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
