Manchester United begin their continental football tomorrow evening, with Jose Mourinho hoping to go a long way in European football’s secondary tournament – the Europa League. Ahead of that game, we’ve been given a fitness scare about a certain centre-back…
The Daily Mirror say that Phil Jones wasn’t present at the training session this morning, with the 24-year-old also missing out on the 20-man squad that has been named for the match against Feyenoord.
Jones is yet to play under Jose Mourinho, and this latest setback is certainly going to hamper his development further. Although the extent of the issue is yet to be disclosed, it must be a concern for the manager and coaching staff, who pride themselves on keeping players fit and healthy.
You feel that this next twelve months is absolutely huge for the Englishman, but he hasn’t got off to a good start whatsoever. It would be a massive disappointment if it doesn’t work out for Jones at the Theatre of Dreams, because he came in with so much promise.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan also missed out on training and is expected to be out for around ten days.
