Manchester United Football Club could be about to lose the services of one of the best up and coming keepers on our books at the moment – Joel Castro Pereira. The talented Portuguese international has been named in his countries’ squad to take part in the Olympic Games.
That’s according to Adam Marshall, who is a current employer at Manchester United. He took to Twitter earlier to confirm the news, and the Olympic Games doesn’t take place until early August – meaning Pereira will miss the start of the season domestically.
Now we all know that it is highly unlikely that Pereira would feature for the first-team at all this season, but it will be a major blow for Warren Joyce, who would have seen the young goalkeeper as one of the key cogs in his plans.
However, it will be a brilliant experience for the young man, and who knows, he may well come home with a medal to show for it.
