Manchester United almost certain to miss out on Mats Hummels

Mats Hummels has been the player that all of the Old Trafford Faithful have wanted to see. The German centre-back had an absolutely outstanding World Cup, and week-in week-out he puts in brilliant performances for his club side Borussia Dortmund. United have been dealt a major blow in their pursuit of Hummels, as he admits he won’t be coming to United.

Hummels told Bundesliga Magazin international:

“It’s nice to hear that big clubs like that are interested in you

“I take that as a compliment. But it doesn’t influence me in any way, otherwise. We earn enough here in Dortmund.

“There will always be someone who can pay more than BVB. But Dortmund have made a lot of progress during my time here. In any case: I believe that it’s enough for me.

“If one day I start thinking about playing abroad, money won’t be the reason. But I don’t even think about that at the moment. We still have so much further to go here.”

These quotes are rather disappointing for Manchester United fans. He seems really happy in Dortmund, and he’s speaking out as if he plans to stay there for the rest of his career. However, things can change in an instant in football, so although we seem to have no chance of luring him away at the moment, its definitely worth keeping an eye on.
