Manchester United boss not happy with decision regarding 22-year old

Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard has certainly risen his stock considerably over the last few weeks. He has gone from being a regular in the starting line-up, to scoring his first goal and now being included in the England setup for the first time.

Louis van Gaal has had his say on the decision to call up Jesse Lingard, and its fair to say he isn’t happy about it.

“I would say it is too much too early,” van Gaal began.

“We have to wait to see if he is consistent because he is more or less the same age as Memphis Depay.

“We have to wait but I am very happy with his contribution up until now. I have said already in my first year many times we need speed and creativity on the wings.

“You have seen that now we play with Jesse Lingard and he is not the most speedy winger in the world – and Mata is also not the most speedy winger in the world. So first we must first address that problem.”

At the end of the day, it probably is too soon for Lingard. The experience can only be a good thing for him though. It’ll be helpful for him to mix in with plenty of quality players and perhaps learn a thing or two from the international coaching staff.
