Manchester United started with Timothy Fosu-Mensah on the right-hand side of defence against Wigan, but for some reason, the Dutch starlet wasn’t included in the squad that took on Dortmund in China. Now, the reason for that could have finally been revealed.
Fosu-Mensah took to Twitter to confirm the news that he is indeed injured, and is currently recovering. That probably rules him out of the game against Galatasaray this coming weekend – and his focus will be on getting back in time for the Community Shield against Leicester.
The extent of the problem is currently unknown, with the club yet to give us an official update about the situation. Hopefully, it isn’t a serious problem, because you feel Fosu-Mensah does have a huge role to play for Manchester United this term, and it could be the start of an extremely special career for him.
He broke through into the team at the back end of last season, and looks like a real prospect. He didn’t look out of place at all, and you feel he has the potential to go a long way.
