Manchester United close to completing second major signing: report

Manchester United are close to completing a deal to bring Alvaro Morata to Old Trafford. That’s according to the Manchester Evening News in an exclusive. That follows news from over the weekend, when the Red Devils agreed a fee to sign Victor Lindelof, making Morata the club’s second signing of the summer if it goes through.

Morata, 24, would be nothing short of a scintillating signing for Manchester United Football Club. Obviously, Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s 28-goal haul needs replacing over the summer, and bringing in a player of Morata’s calibre would go a long way towards solving that problem.

However, Jose Mourinho will not have things all his own way, the aforementioned report from the MEN is claiming that there is at least one other club in the running to sign Madrid’s striker – although they do not name any side in particular.

It is thought that United have made rapid progress in negotiations with Los Blancos, and hopefully, a deal isn’t too far away from completion.

This is a man who already has two Champions League titles under his belt, and he appeared in a third during a two-year stint at Juventus. He has loads of experience and he never wilts under the big-game pressure. If Mourinho can pull a move for Morata off, it’d be brilliant for this great team.
