Manchester United competing for signature of world class left-back

Manchester United Football Club are clearly lacking in the left-back department at the moment, with serious injuries to Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo. Louis van Gaal could look to fix that issue, by bringing in another left-back in January.

According to SportBild, Manchester United and Real Madrid are competing for the signature of Ricardo Rodriguez, ahead of a potential January transfer.

The 23-year old Swiss international currently plays his football for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, and he has certainly made a name for himself on the European level, however signing him in the middle of the season could prove to be tough.

SportBild go on to say that Manchester United signing an established player like Ricardo Rodriguez could well hamper the development of Luke Shaw once he returns.

Personally I’d like to see United get through this season, because we’ve seen glimpses of just how good Luke Shaw can be for this football club, and we have to put our trust solely in him.
