Manchester United are considering a bid for AS Monaco’s insanely talented left-winger, Thomas Lemar. That’s according to the usually reliable Duncan Castles, who writes in the Daily Record that the 21-year-old is being targeted following failed moves for both Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
Lemar was an integral part of AS Monaco’s successful Ligue 1 campaign, as well as helping his team to the Champions League semi-finals. That led to some heavy interest from fellow Premier League side, Arsenal, but as of yet, no agreement between the two has been struck; meaning United could well pounce.
Castles writes that United are partly interested due to also being priced out of a move for Ivan Perisic. Lemar would be cheaper in terms of a weekly wage, largely due to his age.
Over the last year, the winger scored fourteen goals and tacked on seventeen assists for his teammates which is an outstanding return. He reminds me of Anthony Martial before he made the move to the Premier League, and if Lemar could have the same impact, then he’d be a huge hit.
I’d absolutely love to see this deal happen. He’s young, hungry and a real up and comer. He wouldn’t be cheap, but in the long run, it’d be worth it.
