Manchester United have already completed one huge outgoing transfer, with Morgan Schneiderlin agreeing a permanent move to Everton. Now, it looks as though a player who joined in the same window as the aforementioned Frenchman could also be leaving shortly…
That man is Memphis Depay, and according to the Daily Mirror, the 22-year-old Dutchman looks set to finally end his Old Trafford nightmare. The report says that a move could be completed within the next 48 hours, which in my opinion is good news for all involved.
According to the report, United rejected a £13million bid earlier in the window, but the Ligue 1 side have come back with an improved offer and the Red Devils are ready to do business just eighteen months after signing him.
At the end of the day, Depay did come to Old Trafford with plenty of promise, and we have seen glimpses of his ability on occasions. However, he’s just not been at the races anywhere near often enough which is obviously a real shame.
A move away is probably in the best interests of all involved. His confidence looks shot, and what’s the point in him rotting on United’s bench when the club can get a decent fee for him? This deal certainly makes sense, and I sincerely hope it happens.
