Manchester United’s pre-season tour kicks off in under two weeks now, when the Red Devils fly out to the USA to play a whole host of friendlies in preparation for the Premier League campaign. Before that though, transfer deals will be done.
According to ESPN and their sources, Jose Mourinho is closing in on a deal to sign one of his former players, Nemanja Matic. To add to that, they say a deal could be completed before the end of the week which is a huge boost.
The 28-year-old has been at Stamford Bridge since January 2014, and has won two Premier League titles during his three-and-a-half seasons as a Chelsea player – one of those crowns came with Mourinho.
Our manager knows exactly what he wants and he’s one of the best when it comes to identifying a problem within a team and then fixing it. Although this signing may seem rather underwhelming on paper, it’s an area of the field in which we certainly need help.
There were so many occasions when the likes of Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera were held back because they knew they had no protection in behind them. Bringing in Matic would certainly solve that problem, and the man from Serbia would definitely be a massive improvement to our squad in the move were to happen.
