Manchester United confirmed a move for Victor Lindelof last night, with a transfer fee already agreed to sign the 22-year-old centre-back. Now, it looks as though our second signing could well be on the horizon as things seem to be speeding up nicely at Old Trafford.
The Spaniard, 24, has an excellent 20-goal season for Real Madrid last summer, but limited minutes on the field has seemingly frustrated the forward who is now ready to move away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to the aforementioned report, the Red Devils are ready to pay over £60million to land Morata, taking their summer spending close to the £100million mark if the deal does go through.
I think it’s abundantly clear that Manchester United need a striker who can find the back of the net, and that need was made all the more relevant when Zlatan Ibrahimovic was released on a free transfer.
Morata is a brilliant addition and his game looks tailor made for Premier League football. It’s an expensive gamble to make but I trust Mourinho, and it seems like a brilliant acquisition – on paper at least.
