Manchester United dealt another injury blow as Mourinho’s problems build

Manchester United’s injury problems have seemingly worsened, with Ander Herrera limping off with an apparent hamstring injury against Sevilla.

The incident took place just 17 minutes into the match, with the Basque-born midfielder immediately clutching the injured area, signalling for Jose Mourinho to make a substitution straight away.

This was Herrera’s first start after being sidelined for a couple of weeks with a thigh issue, and it does make you wonder if he was rushed back due to the Red Devils being thin on the ground in the engine room.

Injuries are certainly beginning to pile up for Mourinho, following Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones going down in recent weeks, and it gives the gaffer a real selection headache during a crucial time in our season.

With Chelsea at home just on the horizon, Herrera will be a huge miss. Cast your mind back to this fixture last term when the former Athletic Club man played a blinder, completely man-marking Eden Hazard out of the game and nullifying his talents.

But, more than anything it’s a shame for the player. He looked gutted when he was forced off, and now it certainly looks like he’ll be missing for the next few weeks.
