Manchester United are clearly a side in transition at the moment, with Jose Mourinho trying to mould and shape the squad into one that suits his style of play. The signs of progression are there, but still ahead is plenty of work before we can be considered real title candidates.
One man who Jose sees as a potential option is West Ham’s talented Englishman, Reece Oxford. However, recent reports say that the 20-year-old is all set to sign a new deal at the Olympic Stadium – keeping him with The Hammers for another five years.
The versatile youngster can play at the back and in midfield, which must be an attractive prospect for the clubs eyeing his signature. It doesn’t look like they’ll be successful, though, and Oxford is looking like committing his long-term future to the club who gave him his debut a couple of years ago.
Personally, I’d prefer United to go for the tried and tested rather than another young starlet at this point in time anyway, but it’s tough to pinpoint exactly who we need at the moment.
