Jose Mourinho clearly has his own ideas and plans for the current playing squad, with our new boss looking to implement tactics as soon as possible. That means some players who don’t fit those schemes will have to leave, and one player has been identified as surplus to requirements.
The man in question is Paddy McNair, and according to the Daily Record, both Celtic and Burnley are chasing his signature during this summer transfer window.
McNair, now 21, had a stunning debut season under Louis van Gaal two years ago, but has since fizzled out of the limelight, and didn’t really feature for his club last season.
It is believed McNair always prefers to play in a defensive midfield role rather than a centre-back, but his versatility could be a real selling point for a potential suitor of his. Whilst it would be a real shame to see a prospect leave the club, you’d understand his reasoning behind leaving to get regular game time elsewhere.
