Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has lost his place within the team recently, with the defender going to drastic measures to win it back.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, per The Metro, who say that the Englishman is planning on changing to a vegan diet to give himself every opportunity.
This is becoming a modern-day trend, with Hector Bellerin and Jermaine Defoe both doing similar in recent months.
You have to admire his dedication to try and force his way back into the team. This is exactly the right attitude to have, and it all starts with having the right lifestyle and positive mindset.
Smalling’s omission from Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad was probably a bitter pill to swallow which has kicked this plan into motion. Now, it’s up to him to keep working hard on the field and make himself undroppable.
I get the feeling that Jose Mourinho does trust the ex-Non League man wholeheartedly, so when things aren’t going well, Smalling will play from time-to-time.
Personally, though, I just don’t think he’s good enough to start week-in-week-out, but as a squad player, I’m more than happy for him to stick around and slot in when required.
