Manchester United defender suffers yet another injury setback

When Manchester United signed Phil Jones over five years ago now, the club thought they were getting a youngster who could make up part of their back four for the next decade. The now 24-year-old hasn’t managed to lock down a position in the team due to injury, and now he’s had another setback.

That’s according to the IB Times, who say Jones’ injury nightmare looks set to continue after suffering another blow as he looks to recover from ligament damage.

The centre-back hasn’t played for the club since January which in itself is an absolutely huge concern. Jose Mourinho is clearly a big fan of Jones though, and has included him in his 25-man Premier League squad despite all these injuries.

That said, confidence must be dwindling in Phil Jones because he’s becoming extremely unreliable, which is something Jose Mourinho doesn’t like.

You feel this season is massive for the Englishman, and if he is to succeed at Old Trafford, he has to play a fair bit before the end of the season.
