Manchester United could well be in the market for a new left-back this summer, with Jose Mourinho looking to bolster his squad.
Now, the Red Devils have been told how much Juventus’ Alex Sandro would cost them. According to Mediaset Premium, per the Manchester Evening News, the figure they’re quoting is £52.7million (€60m), which, for a player in his prime, doesn’t seem all that ridiculous.
Sandro is an elite level full-back on both sides of the ball. Defensively, he’s far better than Ashley Young, while also understand the technical aspects of the position much more. In terms of attacking, the Brazilian is quick and an excellent crosser of the football. That’s not me knocking Youngy, by the way, he’s been great this season. Unfortunately, though, he isn’t getting any younger.
You also have to consider Luke Shaw. The Englishman, for whatever reason, just hasn’t been playing. It doesn’t look like he has a future under Jose Mourinho, so why delay the inevitable? Just let him go now and draft in a replacement.
Other potential targets named in the article are Celtic’s Kieran Tierney, Tottenham’s Danny Rose and Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon. For me, I’d choose Sandro every day of the week.
